PRESS RELEASE: Ben Pereira Added to Board of LGBTQ+ Professional Network HomeField Alliance
March 1, 2020:
Chicago, Ill. — HomeField Alliance, the network for LGBTQ+ business professionals working in sports and entertainment, has added industry professional and Diversity & Inclusion Specialist for Minor League Baseball, Ben Pereira (he, him) to its board.
Pereira, a member of Business Equality Magazine’s 2020 “40 LGBTQ Leaders Under 40” will support HomeField Alliance formally as the organization’s Secretary, but also will lead key initiatives and programs from the Tampa Bay Region where he resides.
“We’re thrilled to have Ben joining our leadership team,” said HomeField Alliance president and co-founder Jake Lenz (he/him). “He’s a true up-and-comer, proving at just 25 he can punch well above his weight class and years of experience to really drive inclusion in our industry. We’ve had the chance to work with him on a number of special projects thanks to his relentless desire to get involved from the moment he became a member, so he already is well acclimated to who we are as an organization and where we need to grow.”
“I’ve been a true believer in the mission of HomeField Alliance since the very beginning and have benefited so much personally and professionally through my membership,” Pereira said. “For anyone to succeed in their workplace they need to do so with the freedom and empowerment to be themselves. HomeField connects you to a network of peers who understand your journey like few others can. I’m excited to join a board full of changemakers to help grow HomeField Alliance and our impact on LGBTQ+ members in our industry.”
Lenz, who has spent his career as a sponsorship marketing specialist, founded the organization with event marketing veteran and longtime IEG executive Jim Andrews (he/him), and David Slade (he/him), chief development and marketing officer for WFYI Public Media in Indianapolis and formerly with the USTA Foundation.
