We founded HomeField Alliance in 2017 with the goal of being an important resource for LGBTQ+ professionals and their allies working in the business of sports and events.

Although our industry can often fall short in terms of diversity, equity, and inclusion, we consider it one of the most unique and rewarding areas in which to build a career. And from HomeField’s beginning, we knew there was a community of LGBTQ+ people attempting and succeeding at doing just that, but without a way to communicate, connect and come together.

HomeField was the solution for what our own networks all lacked.

Five-plus years later, having sought to grow and develop the organization in various ways, we have returned to those roots. We moved to free membership last year to focus on building a wide and deep community for our members. We will seek to fund the organization through other means in order to remove any barriers to membership and the creation of an incredibly powerful network for members to tap into.

Coming out of a leadership change that sees HomeField co-founder Jake Lenz reassuming the role of president, we have been hard at work preparing to kick off this next chapter and are excited to offer you multiple ways to become involved in helping to nurture, develop and benefit from our shared community:

#2 – Take part in our Virtual Community Meet Up
Join members of the HomeField board of directors and others from around the country on Wednesday, May 24 at 8PM ET/5PM PT for a casual catch-up and informal discussion. RSVP here!

#3 – Connect 1:1 with other members over coffee (on us!)
HomeField is introducing Coffee Chats to help members link up with other LGBTQ+ professionals interested in sports and events careers through casual conversations. If you’re interested in growing your personal network, learning from others and sharing experiences, let us know here and we will identify a good match for your initial chat. To launch this program, each chat participant will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card courtesy of HomeField!

#4 – Stay tuned for news about our in-person event in NYC next month
We’re still working on the details, but you can look forward to an opportunity to gather with HomeField members and other industry organizations to celebrate Pride. We’re also planning in-person events in other cities this year, so be on the watch for further information.

We are genuinely excited for what’s to come, as we look forward to building this community and this organization alongside you and to making our industry an inclusive place for you and our LGBTQ+ peers.
